Sunstock Solar Festival is a not-for-profit, solar-powered music festival that combines live music, art, and sustainability. Originally launched in Los Angeles in collaboration with Trapdoor Social, the festival toured nationally, producing solar-powered concerts and performances that powered music equipment entirely with clean energy. Over the years, Sunstock brought together artists, nonprofit partners, and audiences for events that celebrated community, creativity, and environmental action. All profits supported charitable solar installations, including Homeboy Industries, Kids Cancer Connection, and A Safe Place For Youth.

Today, Sunstock continues as an annual event hosted by the ASUC Sustainability Team at UC Berkeley. The free, all-day outdoor festival features student and local bands, a sustainability fair, and interactive booths where clubs and organizations connect with the community. The event welcomes attendees of all ages, giving students a platform to share their cultural and environmental commitments while inspiring collaboration and public engagement. In past years, Trapdoor Social has performed as headliners, bringing their solar-powered trailer and generator to help power the festival.

By combining music, art, and clean energy, Sunstock makes sustainability tangible, showing how creative expression can drive environmental awareness and community action. The festival’s unique approach continues to inspire attendees, empower local artists, and demonstrate that live music and solar power can shine together.
